Let's make a change! I think that we should change the New Zealand flag to a flag that suits the unique country that Aotearoa New Zealand is.
We need to change the flag because we don't do a lot with England anymore. I think it needs to be spiced up a bit and have more Kiwiana in it and not just the Union Jack. I think that instead of the Union Jack we should have the sliver fern or a kiwi some thing that would represent New Zealand better.
Another reason to change the New Zealand flag is because the Australian flag is alot like the New Zealand flag and some people get confused between the two and we are nothing like Australia and we don't want to be either!!!
As for the Southern Cross stars, I think that they represent where we are found in the world which is important so we should keep that as it is.
My favourite flag design is this one because I think that it represents New Zealand well. It shows the lush green side of our country and the blue of our waters. The sliver fern has jagged leaves representing our beautiful mountain ranges. The Southern Cross stars represents where we are found in the world and the red and blue on the Southern Cross represents the small connection we have with Britain.
In conclusion, I think we should change the flag, its time to spice it up a bit more. Let's make a change!
I really like this story and think you have used really good descriptive words. It makes a lot of sense and I like your arguments for the change. Personally I don't want the change but your argument made me be fifty-fifty. Your punctuation is good and capital letters are really good.
ReplyDeleteLike I said it makes good sense. Your words to describe the fern were really good and made the story end really well. For me the fact that Australia and New Zealand have similar flags show our relationship with them. Good job and I can't wait to see what your next blog is about.
A great posting Logan - it is clear you have given this issue some thought and you have justified the change offering up a good alternative. Well done.
